Management Sciences for Health (MSH) is a non-profit international public health organization dedicated to saving lives and improving the health of the world's poorest and most vulnerable people by closing the gap between knowledge and action in public health. The Global Partnerships, Marketing and Communication (GPMC) team increases the capacity of MSH to impact global health by expanding our external visibility and building robust philanthropic and innovative private sector engagements. We seek a Global Partnerships Intern to contribute to and learn from our work.

The Intern Will Gain:

  • Exposure to public-private partnership strategies that support global health and international development.
  • First-hand experience in market research and analysis. Understanding of the issues related to private sector business development in a rapidly changing, highly competitive environment.
  • Understanding of marketing and communication practices in the international nonprofit sector.
  • Insight into the workings of a complex, geographically dispersed team (12 time zones), assessing business needs, and developing tools and resources.
  • Introduction to what it means to be part of a critical organizational mission and work with 2500 professionals across the world to improve people's health and lives.

Specific Responsibilities

**Business Development Research and Analysis
**

  • Conduct desk research on private sector companies, foundations and organizations involved in international development and global health issues.
  • Manage, analyze and report on information and data using Salesforce, Microsoft Office, and other technology tools.

**Capacity Building
**

  • Draft articles for MSH's internal newsletter, external blog and social media.
  • Assist in the preparation of materials for meetings/events.

**Tools and Resources
**

  • Assist with identifying and developing the necessary tools and resources that enable a multi-faceted, geographically dispersed team to operate successfully.
  • Attend and take notes at meetings and events.
  • Plan and perform administrative tasks.

  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.

  • Major in international relations, global studies, business, marketing, communications, or related.

  • Strong research skills (quantitative and qualitative)

  • Commitment of 15-20 hours per week minimum.

  • A basic understanding of and interest in global health and/or international development.

  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite applications (especially Excel) as well as Internet research. Familiarity with relational databases or willingness to learn.

  • Strong organizational, writing, and communication skills.

  • Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Detail oriented.

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work pro-actively and independently, as well as part of a team.

  • Internship candidates must be full- or part-time students earning university credit for their internship.
  • This is an **unpaid* internship, and candidates are responsible for their own housing and transportation.*
