Overview

The Senior Data Analyst (SDA) will develop insights into complex questions about mobile performance and analytics, by leveraging Micro Strategy Business Intelligence tool. The Senior Data Analyst will develop and standardize analysis and reporting methodologies, and will assist internal teams and customers understand supply chain performance. The SDA will perform all aspects of data warehouse management, such as source-to target mapping, ETL/ELT design and code review, job scheduling, quality assurance, release & configuration, and production support. S/he will analyze requirements and designs solutions for performance management reporting solutions. S/he evaluates and designs existing or proposed systems to structure and access databases. The Senior Data Analyst reports directly to the MIS Unit Manager.

Specific Responsibilities

Data Analytics

  • Manage all technical aspects of the use of Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse software
  • Analyze warehouse and business intelligence, applications programming, and operations requirements for business units.
  • Recommend solutions that enhance the physical structure, functional capabilities, data security and data backup/recovery of databases/data warehouse.
  • Support the development of dashboards designed to manage and improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Work closely with business units to implement best practices based on analytics findings and a sound understanding of business processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve PFSCM’s analytic infrastructure and processes • Identify solutions where data can be applied and leveraged using best practice data visualization approaches.
  • Lead business users on using data correctly.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis in support of strategic initiatives and customer inquiries.
  • Lead data identification and collection activities to build and enhance analytic capabilities.
  • Provide level of effort estimates upon request.
  • Conduct system and report data validation on transactional and master data within the primary reporting systems.
  • Monitor data and reports for potential data issues, data anomalies, and incorrect values.

Qualifications and Experience

Required

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Mathematics/Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience doing Data Analysis, cleaning, validation, etc. with a Bachelor's degree.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Mathematics/Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field, and 2 years of professional experience doing Data Analysis, cleaning, validation, etc.
  • Doctorate degree in Mathematics/Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Expertise and hands on experience with database design, data model development, query languages, and ETL process
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical ideas to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proficient with MicroStrategy Business Intelligence tool
  • Possess a solid understanding of database architecture and data warehouse infrastructure
  • Knowledge of big data concepts, strategies, and methodologies; thorough knowledge of business functions and operations, objectives and strategies.
  • Practical knowledge of other leading Database Systems, Reporting, and Business Intelligence tools (e.g. DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, Business Objects, Tableau, and SAS). Experience with Java preferred
  • Strong project management background, skills, and experience, using multiple methods and tools, to ensure appropriate planning and execution of projects.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel and other data manipulation tools required.
  • Knowledge of performance measures, root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Background, experience, or strong interest in public health and/or significant international work experience in diverse environments desired.
  • Proven effective written and oral communications, presentation, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability working as part of a team, as well as independently, with a diverse set of multi-disciplinary professionals.
  • English fluency required including speaking, writing, understanding, and reading with the ability to conduct business in English.
